Selena Gomez to Headline Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Game Halftime Show

Texas girl Selena Gomez will entertain the crowd during halftime at the Dallas Cowboys' annual Thanksgiving Day game, the Dallas Morning News reports.  The Cowboys will take on the Oakland Raiders on November 28 at Cowboys Stadium.

Speaking about her participation in the event, Selena said, "I’m from Texas, so I’m a little nervous, I’m not going to lie. But I’m very honored and I hope that we come — me, my dancers and my band — and we give Texas a really good show and I make them proud.”

The singer, who watches the Cowboys' game every year with her family, added, "I’m trying not to think about it too much. I’m just trying to make it the best it can be. It means a lot more to me I think.”

The halftime show traditionally marks the kickoff of the Salvation Army's holiday fundraising drive, the Red Kettle campaign.  Since the campaign was first introduced in 1997, 1.75 billion dollars as been raised, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Ron Busroe, a Salvation Army executive, told the paper that Selena is the perfect artist to bring the message of holiday giving to the country, "Selena certainly is committed," he said. "I mean, with her work with UNICEF, her work in trying to bring awareness particularly to children around the world, fits in perfectly with the Salvation Army.”
