Eddie Murphy is back in the spotlight, and this time it's not on the big screen.  The actor is dipping back into music, and has just released a new R&B song, titled "Promise (You Won’t Break My Heart).”

The ballad is the second single from Murphy's upcoming fourth studio album, 9, due in spring 2014. The first single from the project was "Red Light," a reggae/rock collaboration with Snoop Lion.

Murphy is no stranger to music. In 1985, he created a hit with "Party All the Time," which reached number two on the Billboard charts.

"Promise (You Won’t Break My Heart)” will be available to download via iTunes starting December 3, according to Murphy's SoundCloud music sharing profile.
