Jonas Brothers Split After “Tough Conversation”; Musical Parting Gifts on the Way

On Wednesday, one day after confirming their split, the Jonas brothers sat down with ABC's Robert Roberts on Good Morning America to give their first and only TV interview about the breakup.  The trio explained that after a "tough conversation" and creative differences, they've decided to make brotherhood, and not music, their priority

"I think it was time," Kevin Jonas said of the split, adding, "We feel like it's time that the Jonas Brothers comes to an end."

Nick Jonas says he was the one who started the conversation, in order to hammer out their differences. He said he told his brothers, "'Look, I feel like we’ve had some complications within the group for a long time. Without addressing them I think this train will fall off the tracks,'" adding, "It was a tough conversation."

Said Nick, "We’re family first and that’s always been our main priority and so honesty within what we do as a group was really important."

Joe Jonas elaborated on the group's "complications" on GMA, saying, "It was just individual things that we were just butting heads about, whether it was the way to set up the music video, or even just personal opportunities."

The brothers seemed to be on track with the next phase of their career, releasing a couple of new singles earlier this year, but on October 9, they abruptly canceled a planned tour.  And while fans will now, unfortunately, never hear the band's in-the-works fifth album, Kevin explains that they'll still have some musical parting gifts for the fans.

"The album will actually not be completed, but we will be doing something for our fans," he said. "What we've done is we’re going to release four of the unreleased songs from the album. The rest of the album will be never be released."

In addition, Kevin said that they'll release 10 live recordings from a tour they did last summer tour for fan club members only, "as a gift from us."

The brothers, who wouldn't rule out getting back together one day, each have their own plans for the future. Kevin, who is expecting his first child with wife Danielle and stars in E!'s Married With Jonas, said he plans to focus on the business side of entertainment. Nick and Joe both plan to continue writing and recording their own music, as well as dabble in acting.
