Looks like some of Kelly Clarkson's fans will be unwrapping a special gift this holiday season. Her new Christmas album, Wrapped in Red, has debuted on the album chart at #3, with first-week sales of 70,000 copies. It's Kelly's sixth top-10 album, but her first-ever holiday disc.
Kelly tweeted, "Just found out my Christmas cd, Wrapped In Red, sold 70,000 records the first week and it's October!!! Thank you so much everybody!! #woohoo." When she realized her error, she added, "Okay so I meant my album came out in October haha ….I realize it's November now :)," and added the hashtag, "#IWasHalfRight."
Moviegoers are also enjoying Kelly's holiday music: her song "Underneath the Tree" is being used in the trailer for the new movie About Time. The movie was directed and written by Richard Curtis, the man who brought you Notting Hill, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral. In fact, Kelly's song "The Trouble with Love Is," was featured on the Love Actually soundtrack.
Joining Kelly in the top 10 this week is Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas, a holiday record by the cast of the reality show Duck Dynasty, whichdebuts at #4. According to Billboard, this marks the first time two Christmas albums have ever simultaneously debuted in the top five.
