Katy Perry is getting a big opportunity in a couple of weeks, and she wants it to be very special. According to the singer, she'll get her first chance to open an awards show when she kicks off ABC'sAmerican Music Awards on November 24.
"You take that into consideration, that you are kind of like setting the tone for everyone in the evening, so you always bring out the big guns in the beginning," Katy told the Associated Press, adding "I always seem to be flying in on something or coming out of something. I like to entertain the kids, I really do."
Katy plans to perform her new single "Unconditionally," and hinted that her performance may have Japanese elements to it.
In addition to Katy, Jennifer Lopez and TLC have also been added to the bill of the show. J-Lo will perform a tribute to the late Latin star Celia Cruz, while TLC will be joined by a special guest.
Others on the bill for the AMAs include Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, country star Luke Bryan, Imagine Dragons, and One Direction. Pitbull will host the show, as well as perform.
